A Summer Elopement and Sunny Picnic in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park

K + C travelled all the way from Wyoming for their elopement with us! Right when we started planning, they knew Edinburgh would be the perfect place. Both K + C grew up as musicians, and actually met in band camp. K even plays the bagpipes too! So the military tattoo was definitely on their hit-list.

We started their elopement day at the Scotsman Hotel. First, K + C enjoyed their favorite meal together - brunch! We met up with them at the hotel to start getting ready. We completely took over the gorgeous staircase for portraits and a first look, taking advantage of the golden light pouring through the windows.

Then, our first stop: coffee. We went straight to the Milkman for a quick caffeine boost and some people-watching. With the Fringe on in August, the city felt so alive. We passed acrobats, cheering crowds, and musicians everywhere. At one point, everyone even started cheering for K + C!

The two decided that even with their city destination, they wanted to have an elopement in nature with beautiful landscapes. They particularly like ruins and romantic settings, so St Anthony’s Chapel was the perfect place. We laughed and cried through their ceremony, and headed out to explore Holyrood Park afterwards. All the while, enjoying the sweet summer sun on our skin (a rarity)!

Conor found the perfect spot for their picnic - looking out onto Arthur’s Seat while still feeling tucked away and hidden from the world. We popped champagne, grazed on snacks, and even indulged in the most perfect lemon raspberry cake from Cuckoo’s Bakery. Thanks again for sharing some cake with us K + C… it was absolute heaven!

After an amazing afternoon of running around the park, we stopped at Calton Hill for one last photo session overlooking the city. We finished the day with a handfasting ceremony at the foot of the National Monument, and some last few cuddles by the viewpoint. Perfect.
