The Highland Experience
All-Inclusive Elopements
Packages & Pricing
Let's get one thing straight...
This isn’t a typical elopement photography package.
We do include photography... but that's not what this package really is.
What you’re actually booking is an All-Inclusive Experience. Think of it like a chauffeured tour you’d book on vacation… except… with a ceremony included too. And flowers, and snacks, and Champagne, and loads of other stuff. And you’ll be in wedding attire. Oh and you’ll get hundreds of professional photos afterwards too.
Basically, we will provide you with the simplest and easiest way to have an epic elopement day in Scotland. All tied up in one neat little package.
Meet MJ (your photographer) and Conor (your celebrant)
We’re the husband and wife team that covers everything for you. As a photographer / celebrant duo, we really keep the day as simple and intimate as possible. No moving parts. No need to coordinate with multiple suppliers. No need to run the show on your own wedding day. We’ll take care of everything for you.
And no matter what happens, we’ll all be in the same car together! We can easily adjust as necessary, and just go with the flow. Everything (and everyone!) you need is all in one place.
It’ll honestly feel like you’re exploring Scotland with two of your closest friends.
What makes us different?
Our packages are driven by experience and service, not by photo galleries.
Our set packages and proven locations will help cut out your decision fatigue.
We include legally-insured chauffeur services with all our Highland Experiences, so you don’t have to drive on your elopement day.
We both come from tourism and luxury service backgrounds, not art or marketing. So our approach is much more fun, laidback, and unpretentious.
We only take on 15-20 elopements a year, so we can provide a high-level of support and focus to all our clients.
We only run our Elopement Experiences during the very best times of year to make sure you have the highest chance of great lighting and weather. Our Spring season runs March-June, and Fall runs September-November.
We work exclusively with international clients eloping from abroad, so we are experts at providing helpful advice and top recommendations to folks who are unfamiliar with Scotland.
We are an international couple - one half of the team is American (MJ), and the other half is a native Scot (Conor). Between both of us, we’ve travelled to over 45 countries.
We eloped ourselves… twice! We had a legal ceremony in Australia, and then a symbolic ceremony in Scotland.
“Truly, the magic was in the details. Everything was so expertly thought out, and they were so well prepared that it allowed us to enjoy a delightfully fun and carefree elopement day. From the beautifully done ceremony, to the heavenly picnic included our favorite bottle of sparkling wine; our wedding day was absolute perfection, thanks to MJ and Conor. Their creativity and personal touch added so much to our special day.”

SAY GOODBYE TO DECISION FATIGUE!
We want you to do the bare minimum.
Our “plug-and-play” style of Elopement Experiences means you have to make very few decisions from here on out. And anything you want to personalize or add onto your experience - we’ve got lists of recommendations to make it literally as easy as possible. From the moment you book, we’ll guide you through a straight forward, step-by-step planning process that requires very little effort.
Don’t you ever just want to close your eyes, let someone else handle all the logistics, and still get exactly what you envisioned?
Well, that’s exactly what we do.

The Highland
Experience
Welcome to the ultimate Scotland Elopement.
All of our highland elopement experiences are based around the iconic Glencoe National Nature Reserve.
In addition to being one of the most picture-perfect places in the country, Glencoe lends itself to unbeatable elopement experiences.
All of our favorite spots are located within a short driving radius of each other, making it easy to visit multiple locations on your elopement day without spending much time in the car, or sacrificing a relaxed pace.
Plus, Glencoe is less than 3-hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow, which is advantageous for international visitors who don’t want to spend a lot of time travelling across the country on unfamiliar roads.
Glencoe offers a variety of cozy cabins or bigger hotels to stay in (which we can provide recommendation lists for). Or if you prefer not to rent a car while you’re here, you can travel to Fort William via train or bus and stay there instead.
Either way, you’ll be chauffeured in our INEOS Grenadier on your elopement day. We’ll pick you up from your lodging, set off on an adventure around some of Scotland’s most epic locations, get you eloped, and drop you off right in time for your dinner reservation.
Wild Picnic
Our gourmet Wild Picnic is the perfect laidback activity for your elopement day. It includes a beautifully curated grazing platter of meats and cheeses, a bottle of Champagne, and a mini cake (or a sweet equivalent) to share. Ideal for an intimate post-ceremony moment in the great outdoors. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, you’re welcome to enjoy your nibbles in the truck or take the picnic home to enjoy after dinner.
“My partner and I recently had the pleasure of working with MJ and Conor for our intimate celebration, and we can't express enough how grateful we are for their exceptional service. From start to finish, they exceeded our expectations and made our elopement an unforgettable experience. Choosing Scotland Elopement Co for our elopement was the best decision we could have made. They turned our dreams into reality, creating a day that was organized, friendly, helpful, and, most importantly, personalized and special.”

More Information
About booking dates, legal ceremonies, guests, and FAQ
Instead of an exact date, we book your elopement by the week.
In order to maintain a level of high-quality elopements and intimate planning services, we only take a small amount of bookings each season. This means we can be more flexible during the planning process, and give our clients the attention and care they deserve! Depending on the circumstances, we can try to accommodate for unexpected changes or travel disruptions - worse case scenario, we can bump your elopement date by one or two days if you need to (symbolic ceremonies only).
Choosing your elopement date:
We will ask you for a weeklong date range when booking your elopement. Typically this is Monday-Friday, but we can also make exceptions for weekends too. This is only because elopement locations tend to be quieter and more peaceful during the week, and we want you to have the best experience possible.
We will also ask for a “placeholder date” for us to begin planning. Depending on the planning process, this elopement date can be changed if we decide another date during that week would be better.
Our Spring season runs from March to June and our Fall season from September to November. We do not take bookings in December, January, February, July or August.
A note on guests…
We specialise in crafting exceptional experiences for two-person elopements focused on an adventurous, laidback day in the wild.
If you choose to include guests, we recommend limiting your party to a total of 4-6 people (including yourselves).
Remote areas of Scotland are difficult to experience with a large group of people, as many restaurants, cafes, attractions, and accommodation options are small and do not usually cater to groups larger than 6 people.
Transportation and parking also becomes tricky when you require more than one or two cars, as many remote spots have only lay-bys or dirt pull-offs for parking. Plus, one-track roads are common in Scotland, which makes multi-car convoys difficult and dangerous.
If you would like to have a larger group of people join you (8+ guests), we highly recommend a hotel/venue-based event, which we can happily make recommendations for! Our Edinburgh Package is also great for groups, as the wonderful city can more easily cater to groups.
Legal vs Symbolic Ceremonies
All legal ceremonies require marriage paperwork to be completed at least 29 days in advance. If you're coming from abroad, you may also need to apply for marriage visas in order to enter the UK. Please read through our blog post about getting legally married in Scotland for an overview of what is required.
If you wish to have a legal ceremony, we have a list of affiliated celebrants we love to partner with! We can help recommend the perfect match for you. Celebrant prices range from £450-650 depending on who you choose, their associated travel costs, and their specific affiliation.
Why we recommend symbolic ceremonies for international elopers:
Expected fees: The marriage paperwork process has associated fees (which you do not need to pay for symbolic ceremonies). You must both fill out your own M10 form, which costs £45 each, plus £10 for entry into the marriage register, paid to the appropriate registry office directly. If you need marriage visas, this will usually costs £100 each to apply, paid directly to the Home Office upon application. The biometrics appointment can cost £100+ depending on the location, date, and time of your appointment. You can expect the entire paperwork process alone to cost £400 or more, not including priority postage of your passports and applications (£50+), or your own travel costs to the biometrics appointment.
Biometrics appointments: There are only a few biometrics centres in each country, and they are only located in major cities - the United States has 14 centres, and Canada only has 6 centres. If you do not live near a major city, this may be a difficult obstacle for you, and will require advance planning to travel to the biometrics centre. Many of the biometrics centres also have limited opening hours. You can check the location of all the visa application centres around the world here.
Passports: Marriage Visa applications have been extremely delayed recently. You must send in your passports for the application, and many couples have had them returned only 1-3 weeks before their departure date, even after paying for expedited services. There is unfortunately no way to contact the Home Office for updates.
Flexibility: Legal paperwork requires your exact date, time, and location to be pre-approved. So if you want to switch to an alternate location or postpone the ceremony time (i.e. due to weather, lateness, or unforeseen circumstances), the paperwork could make that more difficult or impossible.
Registrar appointment: If you opt for a legal ceremony, you have to arrange an appointment to pick up your marriage schedule from the local registrar within the 7 days before your ceremony, which may limit your travel plans. Most registrars are only open Mon-Fri, and close early on Fridays.
FAQ
-
We offer a limited selection of iconic and hidden gem locations in our 3 favorite areas of the country - Glencoe, Edinburgh, and St Andrews. These are all within 3 hours drive of Edinburgh—perfectly suited for elopements and ideal for international travelers. We have curated incredible spots in each location to choose from, whether you’re looking for a mountaintop location or a quiet loch. Once you’re booked, we’ll send you our exclusive Location Guides, featuring specific ceremony spots and personalized recommendations based on your preferences.
-
Most couples book with us 6-12 months in advance. This gives you plenty of time to make travel arrangements and explore all your options before local accommodation books up. Although it’s not ideal, we have planned elopements in as little as one week! Don’t hesitate to get in touch to see if we can make it work.
-
We operate two elopement seasons every year. Spring includes March, April, May, and a little bit of June. Fall includes September, October, and a little bit of December. MJ’s favorite elopement month is October. Conor’s favorite elopement month is April.
-
Yes we do! Most of our clients travel from abroad, and we would absolutely love to help you make the most of your trip to Scotland. For international payments, we accept Great British Pounds (GBP) through a multi-currency transfer app called Wise - but we’ll include all the specific information in your booking proposal.
-
Your booking will be split into two invoices: one invoice for planning/celebrant services, and a separate invoice for photography services. We require a £3,000 deposit upon booking to save your spot in our diary, followed by the remaining balances due one month before your elopement. However we can also set up other payment plans if you prefer to pay in smaller, more frequent instalments.
-
Yes we do! If you would like to have a legal ceremony, there is some paperwork you will have to complete. Check out our Legal Paperwork Guide for an idea of what is required. For folks coming from abroad, we always recommend symbolic ceremonies to avoid the stress, cost, and bureaucracy of marriage visas.
-
We accept bookings with up to 10 people. It’s totally up to you whether you want to bring guests though. We encourage you to bring a few people only if it will make the overall elopement experience better for you. Just keep in mind, you might find it difficult to accommodate large groups, especially in the more remote locations of Scotland. And yes, we most certainly are dog friendly!
-
No, we keep it separate so you have more flexibility to choose an option that matches your vision and budget - but we will help you find the perfect place! We include extensive lists of accommodation options in our resources - including hotels, bed and breakfasts, castles, lodges, and self-catering options.
-
Your package includes chauffeur services so you can be comfortable and relaxed your entire elopement day without worrying about navigating roads you’re unfamiliar with. It also means you can enjoy some drinks if you’re inclined! Please keep in mind, you will still have to make your own way to your accommodation before your elopement. We highly recommend renting a car while visiting Scotland, as it will allow you complete freedom to explore some of the country’s best locations. If you prefer not to rent a car, we can recommend locations that are easy to get to via public transportation.
-
We are more than happy to change the date of your elopement at no extra cost, as long as we are able to accommodate your new date. You will also have to check with your accommodation, and any additional suppliers you hire.
-
Embrace the weather! This is Scotland, so you need to prepare for all seasons in one day. If rain rolls in, the photos will be dramatic and epic. You will have amazing memories to relive. We will never force you into unsafe conditions, but some of our best elopements have been in the rain!
